LIVERPOOL 3-0 BOURNEMOUTH

FT: Liverpool return to winning ways! Jurgen Klopp’s Premier League leaders jump back above Manchester City and restore their three-point advantage.

90: Third and final change for Liverpool as Daniel Sturridge replaces Roberto Firmino. Three minutes of added time on the clock.

89: Close! Boruc is once again alert to come off his line and keep out Trent Alexander-Arnold.

88: Bournemouth doing their level-best to deny me of my FPL clean sheet with a late charge. Van Dijk heads a Smith cross away from the lurking Lys Mousset.

85: James Milner is the next Liverpool player to try his luck from range. He controls Andrew Robertson’s cross before firing over.

Time for Divock Origi to join the action. The Belgian forward, who seems to reserve all of his goals for Merseyside derbies, replaces Sadio Mane for the closing minutes.

83: This fourth just doesn’t want to happen. The Reds break with speed with Mohamed Salah finding Naby Keita inside the penalty area. The midfielder meets but sends the ball into orbit. I guess there’s a reason he’s not score one for Liverpool yet.

80: Lys Mousset has looked really sharp since his entrance. He embarks on another direct run down the left flank before cutting inside and lashing one that Alisson tips over the crossbar.

77: Woodwork! Nearly a fourth for Liverpool. Mohamed Salah hits the woodwork after a clever reverse pass from Roberto Firmino.

75: Chance! Lys Mousset, who replaced Lerma a few moments ago, is straight into the action when hammering a half-volley wide from 25 yards away.

Alexander-Arnold replaces Wijnaldum.

73: Still what could be described as a ‘testimonial pace’ being played here at Anfield. It looks like Jurgen Klopp wants to give Trent Alexander-Arnold some minutes. The full-back is warming up on the touchline.

70: Quite a few goals about in the Premier League this afternoon. West Ham are currently leading Crystal Palace 1-0. Huddersfield trail Arsenal 0-2. Southampton have just gone 1-0 down to relegation rivals Cardiff while Everton are losing to Watford by a goal to nil.

68: Wijnaldum, who’s been unusually attacking today, makes the run into the penalty area but Mohamed Salah can’t find him with a chipped ball forward.

65: Sensible play from Liverpool really – not great for the neutral though as the tempo drops considerably. Jurgen Klopp’s side want to shut-up-shop with three points and a clean sheet.

63: Joel Matip collects a booking for a bodycheck on Ryan Fraser. Bit harsh really but I doubt he’ll be losing sleep.

60: We’ve just ticked past the hour-mark here at Anfield and it remains a Saturday afternoon stroll for the hosts, who will reclaim top position and a three-point lead over Manchester City.

59: Sadio Mane should at least hit the target with a header but he guides Wijnaldum’s cross wide from a tight angle. Putting it across goal would have been a smarter idea.

Eddie Howe makes a change with Dominic Solanke replacing Jordon Ibe. From one former Liverpool youngster to another. A combined transfer fee of £36million?

57: Disappointing cross from Sadio Mane with Mohamed Salah free inside the penalty area. Bournemouth look totally out of ideas, energy and belief.

54: Do we all know what’s at stake for Mohamed Salah today? He was on 48 Premier League goals before today. Should he score another, he will become the fastest player to reach 50 PL goals for any single club. Taking 62 games.

51: Liverpool have their swagger back! And it becomes at just the right moment after those two disappointing draws with Leicester and West Ham.

LIVERPOOL 3-0 BOURNEMOUTH | SALAH

48: There it is. Mohamed Salah joins in the rout with a sublime finish to give Liverpool a three-goal advantage just after the break.

This is worth watching MOTD for alone. Roberto Firmino is the architect when producing a a clever back heel flick to set up Salah, who makes no mistakes with the finish.

I would advise the travelling Bournemouth fans to set off now. It’s a 264-mile journey!

LIVERPOOL 2-0 BOURNEMOUTH

45: And we’re back underway here at Anfield. No changes for either manager over the break.

LIVERPOOL 2-0 BOURNEMOUTH

HT: Jurgen Klopp couldn’t have wished for a better 45 minutes. Bournemouth looked like they would cause problems after a couple of early chances but Liverpool turned on the style and deservedly take a two-goal lead in at the break.

43: Pressure? What pressure? Liverpool are putting on an exhibition now as Mohamed Salah goes close. Steve Cook clears Robertson’s cross before the Egyptian arrives and sees his dipping volley tipped over the crossbar. So close.

40: Adam Smith joins Rico in the referee’s notebook for a late challenge on Naby Keita. Not really sure that was worthy of a booking. Just a bit clumsy.

Liverpool in total control as we approach the break with Fabinho absolutely bossing things in midfield.

39: This title race is going to be one of the best for years! Manchester City now have the pressure on their shoulders with a really tough clash with Chelsea tomorrow.

38: Stick or twist for Liverpool? I suspect we’ll be seeing a few more goals with Bournemouth looking ragged at the back. Chance for Jurgen Klopp’s side to chip away at the goal difference.

LIVERPOOL 2-0 BOURNEMOUTH | WIJNALDUM

35: Game, set and match? You would have to think so given Liverpool’s defensive record and Bournemouth’s woes away from home.

It’s a terrific finish from Georginio Wijnaldum, who collects the pass from Andrew Robertson before lofting the ball over the helpless Boric, who has to watch it nestle into the net.

That really is a beautiful finish from the Dutch midfielder. Liverpool set to restore their three-point advantage over Manchester City.

32: Liverpool’s last 14 Premier League goals have been scored by either Sadio Mane (5), Roberto Firmino (5) or Mohamed Salah (4).

30: Should be 2-0 on the half-hour mark and the chance couldn’t have fallen to a better man. Wijnaldum squares the ball across the penalty area for Mohamed Salah, who completely skews it from around 12 yards. Gini’s cross was fizzed but you would still have expected the Egyptian to do the business.

28: Hmmmmm. Just having a look at this Sadio Mane goal again. It looks like the winger is standing in an offside position. So, so tight.

25: Sadio Mane has scored in four consecutive Premier League games within a single season for the first time in his career.

LIVERPOOL 1-0 BOURNEMOUTH | MANE

24: He’s just unstoppable right now!

Sadio Mane scores for a fourth consecutive Premier League match to put Liverpool ahead against Bournemouth!

James Milner recycles a corner and sends a beautiful cross over to the Mane, who fends off his marker to smartly head past Boruc.

21: Bournemouth just showing a little glimpse that they are a real threat on the break. Former Liverpool star Jordon Ibe is allowed to weave forward before Van Dijk gets an important boot in the way.

18: Liverpool swarming now. James Milner is doing a terrific job down the right flank when drawing the defender and freeing Mohamed Salah. He picks out Sadio Mane but Steve Cook makes a last-ditch tackle to deny the winger yet another Anfield goal.

15: Liverpool turning the screw now as Boric is tested. Sadio Mane slips it through to Roberto Firmino, who forces a decent save from the Bournemouth stopper from an acute angle.

13: Wooosh! Fabinho lays it down the right flank for Mohamed Salah, who cuts inside before firing a curling effort over the crossbar. Quite similar to the stonker he netted against Everton last season.

Brief pause in play while Ryan Fraser receives some treatment after a collision with Fabinho.

11: Mohamed Salah has clear instructions to target Steve Cook. The Egyptian embarrassed the defender at the Vitality Stadium earlier this season and he fancies his chances again today.

8: No sign of this ‘parking the bus’ from Bournemouth. They register their second effort on goal when Ryan Fraser tests Alisson again. Nothing too threatening about this one.

5: Liverpool just trying to settle things down with some passes around the midfield. Bournemouth content to sit deep and break whenever possible. Not a particularly high or intense press from the visitors.

3: Hello! This wasn’t in the script. First blood should go Bournemouth’s way as Ibe and King combine well to release Fraser, who cuts infield before shooting and forcing a smart save from Alisson!

LIVERPOOL 0-0 BOURNEMOUTH

1: And we’re underway. Huge afternoon in the Premier League title race is about to unfold at Anfield. Will Pep Guardiola be jumping for joy or will Jurgen Klopp’s side restore their three-point advantage? We’re about to find out. Standby…

Mo appearances, Mo goals

14:55: Mohamed Salah has scored five goals in three league appearances against Bournemouth. And that’s exactly why I’ve made him my FPL captain today. Sorry for cursing him, Liverpool fans.

Extra?

14:52: Jurgen Klopp is clearly expecting a defensive Bournemouth at Anfield this afternoon. D’ya think he’s suggesting Eddie Howe will park the bus?

“Bournemouth have brought in another defender so immediately you can see what the plan is,” Klopp said.

Not exactly Eddie’s style, right?

‘Re-write the history books’

14:48: The ever-positive Eddie Howe is in good form ahead of today’s clash saying that his side can re-write the history books by winning at Liverpool for the first time.

The odds are stacked against the Cherries, with Liverpool on a 33-match unbeaten run at home, while the south coast club have lost their last seven matches on the road in the Premier League.

“These challenges have always faced us before and we tend to look at it as writing new history for the club,” said Howe. “Winning at Anfield is something we would love to do. No team has done it for a long period of time in the Premier League which goes to show how consistent Liverpool have been.

Reds set for cherry picking?

14:45: After Manchester City were beaten at Newcastle, it appeared Liverpool were ready to open up a potentially decisive lead.

Successive draws, though, have seen Jurgen Klopp’s side stumble, while City bounced back to the summit with a midweek win at Everton, albeit they have played a game more.

Liverpool must regroup and focus on the job in hand of defeating Bournemouth at Anfield – or face more questions as to whether they have the character to last the distance.

Twitter round-up

Sir Paco: Here we go! We need maximum effort for points here! No more slip-ups. Up the mighty Reds!

Annie: I have a feeling that today’s gonna be Naby Keita’s game. I know it’s been said a lot lately but I have a gut feeling that today we shall see the real Keita!

Lee: Hoping the REDS can get back on track today. We need a really strong performance for confidence in the camp and to give the “Oil boys” something to think about.

Team news

14:35: Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum returned to the side to face Bournemouth at Anfield as manager Jurgen Klopp makes one change.

Defender Trent Alexander-Arnold was named among the substitutes, his first appearance in the squad in four matches after a knee injury, and captain Jordan Henderson was alongside him on the bench after a muscle problem kept him out of Monday’s draw at West Ham.

Fellow midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri missed out with a slight abdominal strain.

Bournemouth midfielder Jefferson Lerman was passed fit to start after an ankle problem while striker Dominic Solanke, on his return to Anfield after joining the Cherries for £19million last month, was named on the bench.
